KEDC

About Us

Kice's Elite Dance Center began with a vision and a dream in 1996. Ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling classes were now available to the Caldwell, Tx area to enrich children's lives with the art of dance.  Since then KEDC started in a small gym studio for 4 years, moved to a larger location for 8 years, and in 2008 Kice's dream of building a state of the art studio in Caldwell became a reality at the present KEDC location - 101 West Fox Street (Dancer's AVE.) Downtown Caldwell.

Kice  (Brinkman) Scarmardo, former owner/director/choreographer, studied at numerous dance studios since beginning her dancing career at 4 years old.   As a Caldwell, Texas native, she founded the dance studio with a partner in 1996 and then took her vision and expanded KEDC in 1997 as the sole owner.

Kice continued her dance education through traveling to numerous dance educators intensives and conventions learning from the industries top educators, choreographers, and performers.  Along with performing in many dance venues including the Super Bowl in Houston Texas, she was a finalist for the first original Texans cheerleaders, and has won numerous awards for choreography and Elite Team awards at dance competitions.

Kice had a passion for teaching her love of dance and performance to every student that walks through the doors of KEDC.  Her faith in God, her family, and the students and families at KEDC were her priorities in life.

In 2019, Kice passed her ownership and direction to former KEDC student, Grace (Vann) Johnson. Since Grace has taken over, she has added many new classes to expand her and Kice's dream of a state of the art dance studio even further.

Grace began her dance career at the age of 3, and was taught by Kice until the age of 18. Grace continued her dance education through taveling, dancing and competing on a college dance team at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Once her time on the team was completed, she moved to study and receive her degree in Dance from the College of Fine Arts and Mass Communication at Sam Houston State University. She has performed in many states across the country, and was givien the opportunity to perform as a principal dancer in the opera Dido and Aeneas in Nishinomiya, Japan!  Though she loved her time as a professional dancer/performer, she has since moved back to Caldwell to share her passion of the art of dance with every student that she has the blessing of teaching. Just as her predecessor before her.

Before every season, Grace walks through each studio praying for blessings upon each and every student that dances at KEDC. She understands and honors that KEDC was founded on values of faith and love, and she actively keeps these values alive for all her her current students and future students to come!
